After experiencing a game day in Madison, many prospects are quick to call Camp Randall the best atmosphere in the Big Ten. Junior linebacker Clifton Garrett (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) can be added to the list.
The Watch List inside linebacker visited Wisconsin for the Ohio State game, and it was first time visiting the Badgers for a game. His only other visit came during the summer for a camp.
“The game day atmosphere is crazy. It’s the best one I’ve seen all year. The fans, they’re die-hard Wisconsin fans,” Garrett said. “The fans are crazy, it’s the craziest student section I’ve ever seen and I just loved it.”
Garrett said he never heard a stadium get as loud as Camp Randall did after the game-tying touchdown with just a few seconds remaining was reviewed and confirmed.
That was not even his favorite part of the crowd experience, however.
“I got to see the ‘Jump Around.’ I’ve never see anything like that,” he said. “It was ridiculous.”
Garrett made the visit with his dad, and the two got there early so they could meet with the coaches and get a tour of the facilities and campus. The weight room made a big impression on Garrett, who is already back working out with his trainers and high school shortly after his season ended. During a presentation to the recruits, the Wisconsin strength coach explained how the program is getting all new weights tailored to the players and working with the equipment company to develop the weights.
A decision won’t come until the 2014 Army All-American Bowl, but this visit has Garrett high on the Badgers.
“It definitely helps them a lot. They showed me everything I wanted to see. It placed them up. I don’t know any top schools I’m about to commit to but there’s definitely a few schools I like,” Garrett said.
