2014 Raelon Singleton on TCU's radar

For someone who played his first year of varsity football, 2014 wide receiver Raelon Singleton (Crosby, Texas/Crosby) had an outstanding season. Those who know Singleton, however, knew that his first year wouldn’t be a disappointment.

At 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, Singleton has the size and the athletic ability to be a force at the receiver. He possesses a 34-inch vertical and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. All of that together resulted in Singleton accounting for 39 receptions, 625 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

“I had good time. This was my first year playing football since my freshman year,” Singleton said. “After a while, I saw I had some potential. I started playing better.”

Once a guy focused solely on a basketball scholarship, Singleton now is looking to score a scholarship that will allow him to play football and basketball. If that doesn’t work, Singleton believes his ticket to college may be through football.

Singleton’s still looking for his first offer, but he said TCU has kept a close eye on him for most of the season. Singleton said his interest in the Horned Frogs is rising, particularly after watching the program fare well in its first year of Big 12 play.

“I don’t have a whole lot of info on them, but I like the academics there,” Singleton said. “I know they wouldn’t let you fall down. Plus, it’s a Christian school.”

Singleton said he will focus on football offseason after basketball. He will look to attend more camps and make more football visits.
