Penn State visits, offers 2013 cornerback

Penn State assistant coach John Butler is making the stops in Ohio on Wednesday, and he sent out a new offer to a 2013 prospect.

Cleveland Heights (Ohio) defensive back Marcus McShepard reported the Nittany Lions offered while Butler was at the high school today.

"I'm very honored and grateful that Penn State considers me the caliber of student-athlete to attend their school," McShepard wrote in a text message.

McShepard is looking at an official visit to Penn State the weekend of Dec. 7, but he is making an official visit to Northwestern, his "dream school," this coming weekend. A commitment is not out of the question, and Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald and assistant Adam Cushing will be in McShepard's home Wednesday night for an in-home visit.

McShepard has double-digit offers after a strong senior campaign in which he helped lead Cleveland Heights to just its second playoff appearance in program history.

Cleveland Heights is also home to outside linebacker De'Niro Laster, who visited Penn State for the Indiana game Nov. 17.
