Three-star linebacker Rayfield Dixon (Loxahatchee, Fla./Seminole Ridge) is down to six schools and is currently waiting for some answers from a few of them.
The 6-foot-3, 192-pound senior took an official visit to Purdue earlier in the year but with the recent dismissal of head coach Danny Hope, he’s waiting to see what the program does next.
“Purdue is still on my top list of schools because I enjoyed my time there and I like what the coaching staff told me,” Dixon said. “Coach Hope was a cool guy and I wish he could have stayed, but right now I’m going to wait to see what happens with that job.”
Dixon has also taken an official visit to West Virginia and took an unofficial to Wake Forest. Minnesota is in line for an official on Dec. 14 and Dixon said he might take an official to Mississippi State in January.
“I liked what West Virginia and Wake Forest had to say about utilizing me in their schemes,” Dixon said. “Both programs have had success in recent years but at the same time there’s plenty of opportunities for early playing time.”
Another program recently offered and has already caught Dixon’s attention.
“Louisville offered me last week and right away I was pretty interested,” Dixon added. “But with them announcing a move to the ACC, I’m really excited to see the program.”
Dixon will likely take his official to Louisville on Dec. 7.
