Carr joins Thomas, picks Central Michigan

Two-star offensive tackle Shakir Carr (South Bend, Ind./Clay) has given the Chippewas his commitment, according to multiple sources. Clay's high school teammate, three-star wide receiver Wesley Thomas, also selected CMU this weekend.

Carr, a 6-foot-3, 283-pound senior, also holds scholarship offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Miami-OH and Western Michigan. BCS programs such as Cincinnati, Illinois and Indiana showed interest.

ESPN describes Carr as, "a mobile prospect with the strong hands and playing strength needed to dominate as a run blocker. Has very good athleticism with the weight needed for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition."

Carr is the 20th 2013 verbal for Central Michigan.
