Francis Bernard set for BYU

Running back / safety Francis Bernard (Herriman, Utah/Herriman) is the latest senior to select the Cougars, according to the Deseret News.

The 6-foot, 206-pound Bernard chose Brigham Young over a scholarship offer from Utah State. Utah also showed interest.

"Francis is as good as any running back I've ever coached," Herriman coach Larry Wilson said. "He's a versatile player who catches the ball very well. He's also a great kid who gets good grades and will be a credit to BYU's program."

Bernard carried 96 times or 822 yards and 15 touchdowns and recorded 24 tackles and four interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns, as a senior.

He plans to complete an LDS mission before enrolling at BYU in 2015.
