Ishmael Adams (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) took his long awaited official visit to Cal over the weekend and the Bears are still in a very good spot for the corner.
Adams has previously visited Notre Dame and Arizona State but the Bears have been at the top of Adams’ list since the summer.
“I had a great visit, and I was very comfortable there,” Adams said. “I knew so many people that were also visiting and it was a lot of fun to hang out with everyone. There was definitely a nice buzz going around and a lot of people were talking about how fun it would be if we all went to Cal together.
“I’m cool with a lot of guys already going to Cal like Bryce [Treggs] and Zach Kline and it’s just a great all around school. It wasn’t just the recruits, though. I felt I bonded really well with the players on the team at Cal, too. They all made me feel welcome, like part of the team and it was good to spend time with the DB coach, Ashley Ambrose, as well. He’s a great guy and a very good coach.”
Adams said the depth chart isn’t too bad and he would love to play as a true freshman at whatever school he chooses.
“I think it’s possible I could play early at Cal,” Adams said. “I can play some nickel, too, and working with Brian Kelly has helped me a lot. I think the diversity of my game could get me in to the rotation.
Adams now has to decide what his next move will be.
“I’m not sure if this will be my last visit or not," he said. "I don’t have anything else planned but that doesn’t mean I won’t take any other visits. I’m still planning to commit at the Army All-American game so I have to time to think things over and I’m not in any rush to make a decision right now.”
