LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Four-star offensive tackle Na’Ty Rodgers (Pomfret, Md./McDonough) is among the prospects who have mentioned plans to announce their decision at the Under Armour All-America Game at 5 p.m. ET Friday on ESPN. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman is set to choose between two programs.
“I am going to commit to Maryland or South Carolina at the Under Armour Game,” Rodgers said.
For the Terrapins, the local appeal has them in contention to get the four-star recruit.
“It is my hometown school and I had a good time on my official visit,” Rodgers said. “I like the coaching staff and the thought of playing for my in-state school would be nice.”
The Gamecocks are making a big push for Rodgers, who says the pull to Columbia, S.C., is difficult to ignore.
“I like the atmosphere at South Carolina,” Rodgers said. “Regardless of where you are from, it just draws you in because it is a good town with a great coaching staff.”
Both programs have representatives at the UA Game hoping to convince Rodgers to join them in college.
South Carolina might have gotten the last word in with Rodgers, who plans to visit there in two weeks.
“I called [Gamecocks assistant] G.A. Mangus a couple days ago and we talked about this game and my official visit there Jan. 18,” Rodgers said.
