The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have a new top pledge for 2013 in running back Kamani Thomas (Dallas, Ga./East Paulding), who committed this weekend, multiple sources report.
Arizona State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Troy and Vanderbilt were his other scholarship offers. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound ball-carrier also received interest from Alabama, Georgia Tech, LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma State earlier in the process.
Thomas exploded onto the scene as a sophomore in 2010 when he rushed for 1,901 yards and 23 touchdowns, earning a first team all-state selection. He was hampered by a toe injury during his junior season but rebounded with a 1,662-yard, 13-touchdown senior campaign.
ESPN calls Thomas "a well-rounded back with very good productivity. Has a good blend of size, speed and elusiveness... Can block, shows solid hands and does a lot of things well -- but is not dominate at one particular skill-set at this time."
The Blue Raiders have 12 players on board for 2013.
