Former Cyclones pledge flips to Houston

Three-star cornerback Jalen Barnes (Port Arthur, Texas/Memorial) changed his commitment from Iowa State to Houston following an official visit with the Cougars, according to multiple reports. He originally picked the Cyclones in October.

Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Mississippi State, North Texas, Oklahoma State, San Jose State, Tulsa and Utah also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot, 185-pound senior.

ESPN calls Barnes, "a good looking corner that may be falling under the radar with the size, play-speed and ball skills he brings to the table... a well-rounded, savvy corner who can make plays out of different schemes and alignments."

Barnes posted solid Nike Combine results this offseason including an electronically-timed 4.77 40-yard dash, 4.34 20-yard shuttle 31.6-inch vertical and 87.63 SPARQ. Additionally, ESPN feels the figures don't do him justice, stating, "Plays faster than his modest testing times would indicate."

20 of Houston's 26 commitments have been evaluated by ESPN, all receiving at least a three-star grade.
