Half of the Big Ten is now in on 2014 Wheaton (Ill.) North quarterback Clayton Thorson.
Minnesota became the latest program to offer the 6-foot-4, 195-pound dual-threat recruit, one who split time between quarterback and receiver in 2012. Coming off a bowl appearance and 6-7 overall record, the ESPN Watch List junior is impressed with what Jerry Kill is doing with the Gophers program.
“It seems like their program is heading in the right direction based on their success this year,” Thorson wrote in a text message, “and I know Coach Kill is a great coach and someone you would want to be around.”
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern and Penn State have also offered from the Big Ten. NC State, Northern Illinois and Toledo round out Thorson’s offers.
He will visit Iowa on Sunday for its junior day.
