TE Parsons commits to Vanderbilt

The Vanderbilt Commodores picked up their fourth tight end for 2013 on Monday with the addition of three-star Mitchell Parsons (Parker, Colo./Chaparral), multiple sources report.

The group includes four-stars Brandon Vandenburg (Palm Desert, Calif./College of the Desert) and Mack Weaver (Memphis, Tenn./Harding) and three-star Nathan Marcus (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West).

Parsons, who was on campus this weekend for an official visit, originally committed to Colorado but backed off that pledge in October.

He also holds scholarship offers from Arizona State, California (Dec. 7 official visit), Northern Colorado and Ole Miss. Brigham Young, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington showed interest.

ESPN writes in his scouting report, "Parsons has good hands and looks to be a tough kid, but his ability to contribute as a blocker remains to be seen. He is a very nice target in the passing game that can certainly help move the chains and could develop into a real good contributor if he can also give production as a blocker."

The Commodores have 24 pledges in their nationally-ranked 2013 recruiting class.
