Three-star athlete Marcus Edmond (Hopkins, S.C./Lower Richland) has changed his pledge from NC State to Clemson following an official visit with the Tigers, multiple sources report.
Edmond, a 6-foot, 165-pound senior, had spent the previous weekend on an official visit with the Wolfpack. He originally chose NC State in June. Arizona and Wake Forest also extended scholarship offers. Other programs, including Kentucky, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, expressed interest.
ESPN calls Edmond "a prospect who would be a very good fit for the triple-option attack and would have to be employed in this type of scheme to remain under center. He is a quick and shifty runner that is serviceable as a passer, especially at the high school level. Is built like a wide receiver with a lean, wiry frame and we anticipate this where he will end up, if not at safety."
He is the 17th commitment for Clemson's nationally ranked 2013 recruiting class.
