Rutgers swipes linebacker from Syracuse

Three-star outside linebacker Devan Carter (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) traveled to Piscataway, N.J. this weekend for an official visit committed to the Orange. Monday, he flipped to the Scarlet Knights, according to multiple sources.

"It was amazing," he told NJ.com. "I loved all the recruits and the players, they were awesome. The school is really organized and put together. I like their academic support system, their values and the weight room. And I like how the players believe in the coaches. I just liked it all."

Carter, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior prospect, originally picked Syracuse in June and completed an official with the Orange in December.

ESPN writes in his evaluation, "Carter is a big strong, overpowering back who is able to dominate with size and playing strength; is also effective as a defensive back. It appears his size and athleticism is better suited for the outside linebacker position."

He is commitment No. 22 for Rutgers.
