When Missouri defensive end commit Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) thinks of Nebraska, two things pop in his head.
“Championships. They win a lot,” Mixon said. “And, Ndamukong Suh. I mean, we play two different positions, but he’s a pretty nice dude.”
While Mixon, a three-star defensive end, is happy with his commitment to Missouri, a Nebraska offer proves to be quite intriguing. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound end is so intrigued that he’s planning on taking an official visit to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend.
Mixon committed to Missouri on Dec. 8, but he’s always kept an open mind with recruiting. He said he’s been in contact with Nebraska defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski, defensive coordinator John Papuchis and linebackers coach/recruiting coordinator Ross Els.
“It's a pretty nice offer, something I can possibly look into,” Mixon said. “I’m not doing anything right now, and I’m still committed to Mizzou, but I’ll listen to what they’re saying. Coaching wise, it’s a good program overall, and they just came off a pretty nice season. I know a lot about the program, so I’m just looking forward to getting down that way and checking it out for myself.”
Before Mixon visits, he said Nebraska will come to see him first. He will host an in-home visit on Thursday.
