Junior cornerback Stephen Roberts (Opelika, Ala./Opelika) is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after prospects in the state of Alabama. On Wednesday, he received scholarship offers from both Auburn and Kentucky.
“It’s a blessing to get them,” Roberts said. “Most people don’t get offers like this, so it’s a blessing. I know Auburn’s in my backyard. There’s not much I can say. I’m just looking forward to visiting their junior day next Saturday.”
Last month, Roberts picked up his first offer from Alabama. He was given the offer by UA head coach Nick Saban.
“It was shocking,” he said. “He’s a coach that has a lot of power, so it was kind of shocking just to be there.”
Roberts and his family were in Tuscaloosa for the Tide’s first junior day.
“The visit went well,” he said. “They showed me a lot of love. They showed me all the conditioning and all that stuff. First of all, they showed me the education, and that was great. There were a lot of things they showed me.”
On Feb. 23, Roberts will attend Auburn’s junior day, and he plans to visit both Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt in March. He believes the Yellow Jackets might be next to offer.
The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect likes to play man-to-man and plays aggressive.
