ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Marysville, Wash., is more than 3,200 miles from St. Petersburg, Fla. But for Austin Joyner there was no distance that was going to keep him from proving he belongs among the nation’s best 2015 prospects.
Joyner, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior running back from Marysville-Pilchuck High School, is No. 162 in the ESPN Junior 300, but his name hasn’t been mentioned by many when talking about the top 2015 running backs. He hopes to change that Thursday at the Under Armour All-America Combine.
“This is a great opportunity to test myself and see where I stack up,” Joyner said. “I’m confident in my ability and know I can play against anybody, but sometimes you have to go out and prove it to other people. This is my opportunity to do that.
“I have to show people that even though I’m from a Class 3A school in Washington, we have good players, too.”
