ESPN Junior 300 athlete Hayes picks USC

Steve Sarkisian and the USC Trojans received a verbal commitment on Saturday from ESPN Junior 300 athlete Daelin Hayes.

Hayes (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) stars at running back and linebacker at St. Mary's Prep in Orchard Lake, Michigan, and was on an unofficial visit to California in the past week. Hayes had previously been considering schools such as Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State before committing to the Trojans as an outside linebacker prospect.

Hayes is the first verbal commit for the Trojans in the Class of 2016.

Also on the West Coast visit was Class of 2015 ESPN 300 running back Mike Weber, who has more than 3,300 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns in his career. Weber sent out an update on Twitter indicating he had been offered a scholarship by the Trojans.
