Gophers keep top in-state talent home

Four-star wide receiver Andre McDonald (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) committed to play for Minnesota Thursday, multiple sources report. He made an official visit to campus Jan. 13.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound McDonald was committed to Vanderbilt but went back on the market earlier this month. Arizona, UCLA, Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois and Iowa also offered.

With McDonald now on board, the Gophers have secured three of the state's top four prospects including ESPNU 150 guard Isaac Hayes (St. Paul, Minn./St. Thomas) and offensive tackle Jonah Pirsig (Blue Earth, Minn.).
