Cornerback Nate Godwin (Tampa, Fla./Freedom) admitted he thought hard about committing on the plane ride back from Minnesota on Sunday night.
He didn’t pull the trigger then, but after 72 hours of thinking things over and discussing it with his family Godwin decided to make his verbal commitment to the Golden Gophers.
"I thought about it on the plane ride back and ever since then my feelings for the program just got stronger," Godwin said. "I feel like it’s the right place for me."
Godwin gives Minnesota its third Florida prospect in the class and second this week, joining three-star wide receiver Eric Carter.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior says he can play cornerback or safety for Minnesota.
"They run a lot of nickel, they play 7-8 defensive backs a game and two of the top cornerbacks are leaving," Godwin said. "I can play either cornerback or safety when I get there."
