Ashton Shumpert's last visit to Vanderbilt went much like his first.
When asked what stood out about his visit last weekend, the ESPN 300 prospect from Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba said, "I enjoyed the game and the city was real nice. Enjoyed the campus tour."
That review was very similar to the one Shumpert gave after his summer visit to Vandy, when a leg injury prevented his from participating in a seven-on-seven passing camp. Instead of playing, Shumpert toured the Nashville campus.
This time, however, was a bit different. Shumpert was able to see the Commodores play in person. Vanderbilt beat Massachusetts 49-7 to improve to 4-4. The improvement in the football program has Vandy appealing on two levels for Shumpert, who has said academics are an important factor in his decision.
"I have a 3.0 GPA, and yes they can win if they play at their highest level," Shumpert said of the mixture of school and football.
