Batiste wants to stay with Ole Miss, but ...

Jordan Batiste (Lutcher, La./Lutcher) wants to stick with his Ole Miss commitment, but the three-star safety, like all Revels prospects, is in a holding pattern right now.

“I am just waiting on the new coach,” Batiste said. “I just have to like the new staff. I love coach (Gunter) Brewer and I know he’s doing his best right now trying to keep everything together. It should be over with soon and Ole Miss should have their new (head) coach.”

Batiste, 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds, was supposed to officially visit Ole Miss a few weeks ago but that was postponed because of the firing of Rebel coach Houston Nutt.

“I was scheduled for the LSU game and now I am glad I didn’t (go),” Batiste said. “Just in case, I am talking with some other schools like Pitt, Vandy and Mississippi State. I am also waiting to see if anyone else offers me. But I want things to work out with the Rebels.”

Batiste is the No. 73 ranked safety in the country and the No. 44 ranked prospect from the state of Louisiana.
