Two arch-rivals decided to evaluate the same prospect on the same night last week. Clemson and South Carolina were in attendance for a game Nov. 2 to see Braxton Berrios, the Class of 2014 receiver from Raleigh (N.C.) Leesville.
The two schools are interested but evidently have differing opinions on the junior prospect. South Carolina has offered Berrios a scholarship. Clemson has not.
"They have hinted a lot, just haven't pulled the trigger," the 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect said.
Berrios' list of scholarship offers is approaching double digits. Another school that hasn't offered Berrios a scholarship might have an inside track if they decide to enter the competition.
Berrios grew up a Miami fan. He had several family members live in the area.
Much of Berrios' family has moved from South Florida but some are still there. Family or not, Berrios said he still would be interested in checking out the Hurricanes. That will take some movement on Miami's part, since the Hurricanes haven't shown strong interest.
"A little bit," Berrios said, "but there isn't too much contact going on."
