Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar cornerback Ahmad Richards appears to be down to three schools -- UCF, Florida International and Western Kentucky.
The cornerback has bulked up to 175 pounds and says he’s probably going to make a decision after his season. Dunbar will face Orlando (Fla.) Jones in the first round of the playoffs Friday.
“I want to take officials to each of the programs if I can,” Richards said. “It’s pretty exciting to have all three programs recruiting me.”
Richards broke down each of his choices.
UCF: “The campus is really nice and they have all the updated facilities with the weight room and the stadium and everything. It’s a lot of fun out there and they play a good physical style of defense.”
FIU: “I really like the coaching staff. The head coach, Mario Cristobal, is a good guy; he’s a Miami guy and he knows how to build a program from nothing into a winner. There are a lot of good things happening at FIU.”
Western Kentucky: “They have a lot of Florida boys on the roster and a lot of the coaches are from here, too, so it’s real comfortable. They went into Kentucky and beat them earlier this year, which was a big deal. They have a nice secondary right now but a lot of those guys will graduate.”
Richards said he probably won’t make a decision until the end of the year.
