Three-star defensive tackle Kyle Shortridge (Loxahatchee, Fla./Seminole Ridge) says that Danny Hope was one of the main reasons he committed to Purdue last month.
And with Purdue dismissing the 53-year-old head coach today, it appears likely that Shortridge will look elsewhere.
“I had a great relationship with Coach Hope and I was looking forward to playing for him,” Shortridge said. “Right now I’m going to have to do some research but I don’t think I’m going to go to Purdue. I think I might have to decommit to be honest.”
Shortridge, who chose Purdue over Nebraska, West Virginia, Texas A&M and Boise State, says that he is still keeping in touch with Nebraska coaches and will be looking at a new program as well.
“I’m going to be taking an official visit to Louisville on Dec. 7,” Shortridge added. “That’s going to be my next move.”
