George Morris (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) verbally committed to Syracuse earlier today. Morris, 6-foot-0 and 190-pounds, is a three-star back.
“He just committed,” said Todd Wofford, Central Gwinnett’s coach via text. “George said he likes them playing in the ACC and that they have recruited him the hardest.”
The Orange is getting a complete back who can run and catch the football.
“He’s an all-purpose back,” Wofford said. “George is big enough to be a first- and second-down back, and he can stay in on third down and catch the ball out of the backfield.”
Syracuse now has 22 commitments. Syracuse offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator Greg Adkins recruited Morris, who also had scholarship offers from teams like Indiana, Vanderbilt, Illinois and East Carolina. He’s the No. 70-ranked running back in the nation and the No. 105-rated recruit from the Peach State.
