LaRubbio latest Ohioan heading to UK

Kentucky is not building a pipeline into Ohio. It is already firmly established.

Mark Stoops has been on the job just six months, but the Ohio native already has a strong tie to the Buckeye State when it comes to recruiting. He landed his sixth commitment from Ohio in the 2014 class Saturday when three-star guard Jarrett LaRubbio (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) pledged to Kentucky.

"I felt comfortable there with the coaches," LaRubbio said. "It's the chance to play against the best in the SEC and do something that's never been done before," LaRubbio said.

LaRubbio, the third highest-ranked commit in the Wildcats' eight-man class, chose Kentucky over offers from the likes of Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Washington and Wisconsin. LaRubbio was in Lexington visiting when he committed.

LaRubbio, ranked No. 23 in Ohio, joins fellow Ohio natives Thaddeus Snodgrass (No. 5 in Ohio), Mikel Horton, Darryl Long, Tymere Dubose, and Dorian Hendrix in Kentucky's class. LaRubbio is No. 28 among guards nationally.
