LSU lands top 2015 RB Brossette

LSU got a big boost to its 2015 recruiting class late Monday night as top junior running back, Nick Brossette (Baton Rouge, La./University Lab), and cornerback Xavier Lewis (Laplace, La./East Saint John) verbally committed to LSU.

The 6-foot, 210-pound Brossette is the No. 16-ranked player in the ESPN Junior 300 and chose the hometown team over offers from Auburn, Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Tennessee and others.

As a freshman Brossette rushed for over 1,500 yards and 29 touchdowns and followed that by rushing for over 2,100 yards and 44 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Brossette should fit well in LSU's scheme.

"Brossette looks and runs like he is ready to make the college jump," his RecruitingNation scouting report said. "Projects best in a downhill running scheme. Will continue to improve his stock at the next level by increasing overall speed and elusiveness. "

Lewis, a 6-foot, 170-pound corner also had offers from UCLA, Arizona State and Tulane.

The Tigers are off to a great start for their 2015 recruiting class. Brossette and Lewis join cornerback Kevin Toliver II (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian), who is the No. 2-ranked player in the country for next year, as LSU commits.

With LSU in the top two for running back Leonard Fournette (New Orleans/Saint Augustine), the No. 1-ranked player in the country for 2014, LSU has a chance to have one of the most dynamic backfields in all of college football if both Fournette and Brossette sign with the Tigers.

LSU currently has the 10th best recruiting class for 2014 and it looks like it is on its way to another top-10 class in 2015.
