UA Game jersey tour: Corey Holmes

Senior wide receiver Corey Holmes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) was presented his honorary game jersey at his school Tuesday during the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2014 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game. The event was part of the three-month selection tour.

Holmes, a Notre Dame commitment, is one of 90 players selected to compete in the seventh annual Under Armour All-America Game, a nationally televised game featuring the country’s top high school seniors. The 2014 game is set for 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.

"It's been a dream of mine to participate in the Under Armour All-America Game," Holmes said. "I wouldn't have done it without the help of select people. First, I would like to thank God … without him I wouldn't be anything. I would like thank my dad; he's been a major part of my success. He's been with me since I was a little kid. Watching me growing up, he's responsible for me being the man I am right now. I would like to thank my mom; she's been there with me, too, since Day 1."

St. Thomas Aquinas coach Rocco Casullo says his star player possess a skill set rarely seen at the high school level.

"I think Corey possesses tremendous athletic ability, very explosive, high vertical, great route-runner … he has skills you really don't see for a high school player. Not only the skills, but complete skills and it will be a tremendous asset for him moving forward."

Holmes has been a fan of the UA game.

"I grew up watching the games, and I said to myself that when I get to high school I want to be able to play in the Under Armour All-America Game. I'm just excited to play against the top prospects in the nation. I want to be able prove to everybody that I'm good against the best competition. You look back and you'll see guys like A.J. Green and all the guys that are in the NFL … and to know that you are a part of this, and a part of what they have been through … it's just an honor to be able to play in this game," he said.

The 6-foot-2, 176-pound Holmes is the No. 77 prospect overall and the No. 9 wide receiver in the class. He committed to Notre Dame over offers from Miami (Fla.), LSU, Florida State, Clemson, Arkansas, Auburn and several others.
