GT lands a 'coach's dream' safety

Former Southern Miss commit Lynn Griffin (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian Academy) became commitment No. 16 for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and head coach Paul Johnson.

“Georgia Tech is getting a kid that is a tough player,” said Verlon Dorminey, Trinity Christian Academy’s coach. “Lynn has played hurt a lot. This kid has an exceptional nose for the football and he loves to hit. He plays strong safety, and he gets in the box and is a great run stopper. At 6-foot-0 and 203-pounds, he’s really rocked up and strong. This is a really good kid who’s a coach’s dream.”

Griffin finally got his offer from Georgia Tech this week, after being courted by the Yellow Jackets for the past few months.

“The offer came on Wednesday,” Dorminey said. “They have been on him since about midway through the season. They were waiting on his semester grades. Lynn’s fine.

“Georgia Tech is four hours from home, and he loves the combination of academics and athletics. He also has family there in Atlanta, so that made things a lot easier for him with this decision.”
