Former Georgia Tech commitment Junior Gnonkonde (Lakeland, Ga./Lanier County) is looking for a new home. He was told by the Yellow Jackets staff over the weekend that his scholarship offer has been withdrawn because his test score was too low.
“It took me by surprise,” Gnonkonde said. “I didn’t know that about the score. They didn’t give me a chance.”
Now teams are jumping on this defensive end/outside linebacker prospect. On Wednesday, he will head to Louisiana Tech for an official visit. Gnonkonde hopes to make another trip this weekend, although he’s unclear at this time who that visit will go to.
“I am not sure yet,” Gnonkonde said. “I will know in a day or two.”
Gnonkonde, 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, is originally from the Ivory Coast in Africa. He moved to the states as a high school freshman. He has been playing football now for almost four years. This season he finished with 119 tackles.
Gnonkonde said he plans on making a commitment to someone and signing with a school on national signing day. Gnonkonde is a three-star prospect and the No. 120 ranked defensive end in the nation.
