From Trent Richardson to Class of 2012 five-star prospect Eddie Williams, the Alabama Crimson Tide has picked up strong prospects in the Florida panhandle.
They hope to continue that trend with the Class of 2013 and have extended an offer to class of 2013 athlete Dejon Funderburk (Pensacola, Fla./Washington) after the 6-foot, 175-pound junior attended their junior day event.
"It was a very nice event, and I loved the campus," Funderburk said. "We saw a little bit of everything -- the dorms, the stadium and we got a lot of information about the school academically."
Funderburk had more than 1,100 yards rushing and receiving and scored 11 touchdowns for Washington last season. He also scored two touchdowns on kick returns.
"I like playing wide receiver the most," Funderburk said. "I can pretty much play wherever the coaches ask me."
Funderburk already has received offers from South Florida and Alcorn State. He plans to attend South Florida's junior day Feb. 12.
The Bulls and any other program interested will have a tough act to follow according to Funderburk.
"I've always loved Alabama and thought it was a great program to go to," he said. "But now with a chance to see everything and meet the coaching staff, they are pretty high up there for me.
"I really love the coaching staff."
