2014 WR Scott likes in-state schools

One of the state's top receivers in 2011 wasn't even old enough to drive yet. East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) sophomore Artavis Scott recorded over 1,100 yards last season and is on track to be one of the state's top prospects in his class.

On Sunday, Scott worked out with the Tampa-area 7-on-7 all-star team and shined in one-on-ones against top Class of 2013 players like Plant (Tampa, Fla.) defensive back Paris Bostick and Armwood (Seffner, Fla.) Leon McQuay III.

"It's always good having a chance to work with top competition during the offseason," Scott said. "It makes everyone better.

"I'm happy that my quarterback Pete [DiNovo] is on the team too because we can continue to work on our timing together and do it while going against the best defensive players in the area."

Scott is at least a year away from making any key decisions regarding his recruitment but he's taking some early steps to make sure he sees all of the in-state schools this year.

"I like the in-state programs," Scott said. "I grew up a Miami fan but really that's not a big deal to me any more.

"I'm heading to FSU's junior day this weekend," Scott said. "I think Miami has one next month that I might get to as well."

Scott is also looking at doing several camps over the summer.

"I'm definitely going to do Jimbo Fisher's camp this summer and I might try to do Friday Night Lights too," Scott added.
