John Diarse knows what he's looking for

John Diarse (Monroe, La./Neville), one of Louisiana's top athletes, plays four different positions for his high school team.

“The offseason is going great,” Diarse said. “The seniors are moving out and it’s time to raise our class. It seems for me that most teams are recruiting me as an athlete. I play quarterback, running back, safety, cornerback and receiver. Most schools seem to like me at safety or receiver. I play all the positions pretty even. I can make a play anywhere on the field. Offense or defense, it doesn’t matter to me. I just want to play.”

According to Diarse he has scholarship offers from Alabama, LSU, TCU, Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State.

“It’s a great feeling to have offers from LSU and Alabama. Every recruit wishes they had those offers. I thank God every day. Right now I am open and playing the field with everyone and not leaning anywhere. There are great coaches everywhere and I will take my time to feel things out.”

Diarse, who is also being recruited hard by teams like Oregon, Georgia and Tennessee, has been to junior days at Alabama and LSU.

“I was supposed to go to TCU last weekend but I couldn’t make it,” the 6-foot-1, 210-pound junior said. “I know I will go to a junior day there and to Arkansas and possibly Mississippi State.”

For Diarse, he has a plan and knows exactly what he’s looking for in a school. Now he just has to find the one that fits what he’s looking for.

“Early playing time is important to me,” Diarse said. “I have been playing since I was a freshman and I plan on doing the same thing in college. Chemistry with the coaches and team is very important to me. I want to find coaches that care about players and find honest people. Location is important too because I want to have my family come see me play. Finally, the city of the school is important and I have to find a place where I feel comfortable.”

Last season as a junior Diarse rushed for over 1,300 yards and 26 touchdowns and passed for over 900 yards and 17 scores.
