Lovejoy (Ga.) High School, just outside of Atlanta, is once again going to be loaded this fall on both sides of the ball. Tight end A.J. Jackson leads the way with offers from a good portion of the SEC and ACC schools. But according to Lovejoy coach Al Huges there’s a lot more talent there.
Running back Travis Custis currently has scholarship offers from Georgia Tech, Miami, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and USF.
“I think teams like Georgia and Tennessee could offer him very soon,” Hughes said. “He is breaking all of Tashard Choice’s records here.”
Alejandro Bennifield is a talented southpaw quarterback. According to Hughes he stands 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds.
“This is a kid that can beat you with his arms and legs,” Hughes said.
Bennifield has a big wide receiver target to throw to in JaMichael Ramos. According to Hughes he is 6-4 and 200-pounds and has scholarship offers from USF and FAU.
Three players to keep an eye on defensively at Lovejoy are defensive end/outside linebacker Zane Fields, outside linebacker Deon Robinson and defensive end Nathaniel Norwood.
“Norwood is a player that you better find once he gets off the bus if you are playing us,” Hughes said. “He had 39 tackles for a loss for us last season. Field already has a Mississippi State offer while I know Robinson already has an ACC offer. I just can’t remember who.”
