Tony Whitehead (Cottondale, Ala./Bryant), a big, physical wide receiver from the state of Alabama, has an offer from an SEC program.
“Mississippi State offered me at their junior day in February,” Whitehead said. “They are building that program and when I get there they will have lost five receivers. They have a great playbook and they use their receivers. They are making improvements to their facilities. I know if I go there and work hard I will have a great opportunity.”
Whitehead has also attended a junior day at Alabama and has more junior days coming up this spring at Alabama, Auburn and Western Kentucky.
“Right now I am pretty open and really interested in teams like Alabama, Mississippi State, Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia,” Whitehead said. “They are recruiting me hard. Central Florida is as well.”
Whitehead, 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, had a very good junior campaign, catching 51 passes for 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.
“I can get off the ball and get into my routes,” Whitehead said. “I am strong at the line of scrimmage and I can really catch the ball well. I’m also physical out there.”
