Linebacker Ben Boulware (Anderson, S.C./T.L. Hanna) could be close to a decision. He confirmed via text message this evening that he’s down to two schools -- Clemson and Georgia.
Boulware has visited the Bulldogs twice this spring, once for a junior day last month and again this past weekend to watch a UGA spring practice. He lives 20 miles from Clemson and has been there on a number of occasions. Boulware told ESPN yesterday that he will attend a Tiger football practice this week.
Boulware, 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, recorded 180 tackles last year as a junior and has 420 for his career. Other scholarship offers for Boulware are from Tennessee, Georgia Tech, USF, Maryland, Stanford, UConn, UCLA, Texas A&M, Minnesota, Duke and Ole Miss.
Boulware made a trip to Athens, Ga., to check out the Bulldogs this past weekend. He watched practice and tweeted about a scuffle that caused a little stir on the internet on Saturday,
“I tweeted about fight at practice between a couple of Georgia players,” Boulware said. “Then everyone freaked out about it. I was like ‘calm down, its football’. I think my tweet got retweeted about 100 times. It was their first day of practice and they were all ready to go, in pads and all hyped up. It really was not a big deal. I did get a chance to speak with coach (Mark) Richt a good bit and we talked about their depth situation. They are going to lose quite a few linebackers.”
Boulware says he will go back to Clemson sometime this week and attend one of their spring practices.
