CB Likely zeroing in on select programs

Glades Central (Belle Glade, Fla.) athlete William Likely III wasn't able to participate in last week's IMG Madden 7-on-7 tournament due to a previous engagement but he hopes to be available for future events.

"I had to attend an awards ceremony for Palm Beach County," Likely said. "I definitely wanted to compete but I had already committed to the ceremony."

Likely's recruitment has expanded to well over 20 programs right now, the 5-foot-8, 170-pound junior has been offered by top programs like Florida, Louisville, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, USC and Tennessee.

Recently, the talented athlete took a closer look at LSU, which was one of the first programs to offer him.

"I went there to look at the program and check out their spring game," Likely said. "I really like the coaching staff. I like the way Coach [Les] Miles goes about things.

"You can tell he's a player's coach but he's also very serious at the same time."

The interest from Likely to LSU is legitimate but he does want to check out several schools and take visits before making a decision.

"There are a lot of schools, Miami, Alabama, USC and a few others, that I want to look at," Likely said. "I like all of them right now so I'm pretty open."
