Brandon Kublanow (Marietta, Ga./Walton), one of the top offensive line prospects in the nation in the Class of 2013, visited the Tar Heels staff last weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C.
“North Carolina was a lot of fun,” Kublanow said. “Everything stood out. I loved the campus and the direction of the program. It is really nice up there. I also think Coach [Larry] Fedora is a really cool guy, and I like their offense. He’s a very energetic guy.”
So far the 6-foot-2, 285-pound offensive guard prospect has visited Georgia, Vanderbilt and Florida. This weekend he’s deciding between three schools to see.
“This weekend I may be going to Alabama with Tyren [Jones],” Kublanow said. “Or I may go to South Carolina or Georgia. I know I will hit one of them.”
Kublanow says he’s close to narrowing his school choices.
“I am still considering many and I am wide open,” Kublanow said. “I will make a cut in a couple of weeks. It will likely be a top four or five. I am not too sure. I have been looking at academics and if I liked the staff. I have to have a good relationship with the coaches. What kind of school and what kind of program stability do these schools have?”
Kublanow, who has scholarship offers from Georgia, UCLA, Florida, USF, Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson and others, realizes that he’s lucky to be in this position.
“I have 15 or 16 scholarship [offers] right now,” Kublanow said. “It hits me every now and then. I feel blessed. It’s crazy how far I have come from just one year ago.”
