Trevellous Cheek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer), a 5-foot-10 and 175-pound cornerback prospect, committed to Cal on Tuesday.
“Cal is getting a very good football player, an extremely hard worker, and he’s an even better kid,” Archer coach Andy Dyer said. “He’s got very good feet, is very aggressive and he’s a very good tackler.”
It’s not often you see Cal come to the Peach State to land recruits, but Cheek makes two for the Bears already. They saw his film and had a family connection.
“I know he went to a couple of seven on sevens and combines and stuff like that and did well. And they saw his game tape,” Dyer said. “They somehow got connected with the coaches at Cal. It was a friend of the family that knows one of the coaches there [Ashley Ambrose]. They got his film and the rest is history. He has done a great job of doing his homework and visiting schools. He has goal of being a college player in a bad way and will not stop until he gets there.”
Cal now has four commitments. The other from Georgia is cornerback Shon Akins (Norcross, Ga.).
Cheek also had scholarship offers from Kentucky and UCF.
