Florida recruiting update: What's in a name?

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage quarterback Tyler Cogswell received offers from Arkansas and South Alabama in the last week as the 6-foot-5, 222-pound prospect prepares for his final week of practice.

The Razorbacks have been recruiting Cogswell since late January and finally extended an offer Friday.

"Arkansas stopped by Friday and South Alabama came in Wednesday," Cogswell said. "It was a very good week for me in terms of practice and recruiting, so I'm real happy."

Cogswell will be on the field Wednesday for the spring game against Delray Beach American Heritage. The two programs share a name and are only 50 miles apart so naturally things get a little personal.

"We play each other in the spring every year and we're definitely playing for the rights to the American Heritage name," Cogswell said. "It's a pretty good battle and it can get a little testy."

Cogswell said Wisconsin remains highly interested and they also stopped by practice last week. Nebraska, Central Michigan, Hawaii and Florida International are among Cogswell's other offers. The quarterback will have another golden opportunity to turn heads Wednesday as the sidelines should be filled with scouts.

"We are expecting over 40 colleges to be there Wednesday because of Sony Michel, Greg Bryant, Roderick Johnson and Michael Deeb," said Cogswell. "It's a great chance for a lot of other guys to step up."
