Class of 2014 defensive back Juan Jenkins (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) was checking out the football offices at the University of Florida during the weekend as the 6-foot, 190-pound sophomore is looking for an offer from the hometown school.
"I just received my first offer from Utah a few days ago," Jenkins said. "But I'm here and I'll work out in hopes of getting an offer from the Gators.
"This is where I live and this is the team that I've been rooting for, so I hope it works out."
Gainesville has sent several prospects to BCS schools in the last couple of years but none to Florida. While Jenkins hopes to re-establish the pipeline, he also takes things one step at a time.
"I'm going to be open to the process because there is a lot to see," Jenkins said. "I haven't really talked to the coaches at Utah much but I will because they are interested. My friends Tashon [Whitehurst] and Chris [Bivins] want me to check out USF, so I'll do that too.
"Other schools like North Carolina and Purdue have reached out already so I have to be smart and look for the best situation."
Jenkins and teammate Keith Kelsey are possible participants in this weekend's SuperBull showcase at South Florida.
