Class of 2012 defensive back Gary Simon (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs) is on track to enroll at Oklahoma in late July or early August, according to his head coach Antonio Knox.
Simon re-took the ACT on June 9 and is currently taking two classes at the adult school in St. Petersburg to make sure his GPA lines up.
"Gary needed a couple more points on the ACT and his score will be good enough when we get them back on June 30," Knox said. "But he's also taking the classes at the adult school to raise his GPA to where he'll be good on either scale."
Knox said Simon had a strong final semester of school and is taking the classes for precautionary reasons.
"We just want to make sure Gary has all of the bases covered academically," Knox said. "But make no mistake about it he will be enrolled at Oklahoma for the fall semester."
Simon chose Oklahoma over offers from Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa State, South Florida and several others. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete was rated as a three-star prospect. He was a two-way standout at Gibbs recording seven interceptions on defense and over 500 all-purpose yards on offense.
