Twin brothers Shaquill Griffin and Shaquem Griffin (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) took an unofficial visit to UCF on Tuesday and returned with the possibility of making a commitment to the Knights by the end of the week.
Although both brothers acknowledge being highly interested in the program, they would not confirm that an announcement is coming.
"I think some people got excited after our visit and go ahead of things," Shaquem Griffin said. "We really enjoyed the trip and the campus is so big and there's so much to do.
"The facilities with the on-campus stadium are really impressive. It's a nice place to play college football."
If the twin brothers commit to UCF it would be the fourth members of "Team Tampa" to commit to the Knights joining quarterback Pete DiNovo (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) and Richard Benjamin (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Tech). Team Tampa is an all-star 7-on-7 team made up of players from Hillsborough and Pinellas County.
The brothers said they will return to the campus Friday with their mother.
"We want to discuss things with her and take her to see everything that we saw," said Shaquem Griffin. "We aren't going to make any final decisions without her advice first."
The brothers, both 6-foot, 190-pound seniors, are projected to play defensive back but could play either side of the ball. Other schools under consideration are South Florida, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Boston College.
