LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- To start Saturday afternoon's pool play games, quarterbacks Brice Ramsey and DeVante Kincade were still working to get comfortable with their offenses, as both Ramsey's Southeast team and Kincade's Southwest team went three-and-out in their first two possessions at the Champion Gridiron Kings event at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports.
On the other side of the EWWS fields, West QB Troy Williams came out hot, completing two touchdown passes in the first 10 minutes of play for a 14-0 lead over the Midwest team.
After marching down the field, the Southwest was halted as Southeast linebackers Matthew Thomas and Larenz Bryant were able to cover too much ground for Kincade to make completions. Kincade and Co. were able to move the ball inside the 10-yard line, but the Southeast forced three incompletions and a coverage sack (holding the ball for 4 seconds).
With just less than four minutes left in the half, the game was tied at 0-0.
