Braxton Berrios is ready for the next phase of his recruitment to begin.
The receiver from Raleigh (N.C.) Leesville thinks more scholarship offers are on the way after some summer trips to colleges near and far. The 2014 prospect visited South Carolina for its Showcase Camp and Ohio State for its Friday Night Lights camp.
Berrios said both schools' coaches seemed impressed. However, both schools want to see the 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete prove it against fully padded competition.
“They both said they would be down to watch me play and that they have no hesitation offering me this fall,” Berrios said. “This fall will be huge for me.”
It's hardly a surprise that Berrios would do so well in camp environments. His talents have often been on display. He was one of the top rising juniors in this summer's Nike Football Training Camp in Charlotte, N.C. With offers from Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Minnesota, Berrios can stay close to home or not. Much may depend on the Buckeyes.
“There's something about Ohio State that just caught my attention,” Berrios said.
The Gamecocks have also made an impression.
“South Carolina has such a nice campus and I like that they are getting consistently better,” he said.
The next phase seems close to beginning.
