Three-star defensive tackle Derrick Calloway (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee) wants to make it clear. He's still open; he's still searching for the right school.
That being said, the 6-foot-1, 300-pound senior has a couple of schools he likes with Texas Tech, USC and Arkansas still in the picture and a new program emerging.
"I am ready to put Louisville in there now," Calloway said. "They are reaching out to me and recruiting me pretty hard. That's probably going to be one of the officials I think.
"But in reality I'm still looking I don't want any program to hesitate from contacting me," Calloway added. "And there are other programs out there, Miami, South Florida... if someone calls, I will pick up."
Calloway had a big second half in Manatee's 41-6 victory over Miramar (Fla.) in a game that was broadcast nationally on ESPN2. The senior said it took a while to get adjusted.
"You know the cameras and playing in the afternoon took a little time," Calloway said. "But I need to get used to playing on weekend afternoons.
"In the second half we shifted things around on the defense because me and [Demarcus] Christmas were getting caught going up the field too quickly. At halftime they decided to move some linebackers into the gap and it worked out perfectly."
Calloway said he is trying to work on official visits to Louisville and Texas Tech and should have dates in the next week.
