2014 DE Da'Shawn Hand talks UNC

North Carolina recruiters shouldn't lament the fact that Da'Shawn Hand didn't make his trip to Chapel Hill as previously planned. The junior defensive end from Woodbridge (Va.) High still thinks highly of the Tar Heels.

“It's a good program,” the 2014 prospect said. “The coaching staff is cool.”

Hand may soon visit North Carolina. In fact, he's considering traveling to see several schools. A visit from Hand might be a surprise. He said he doesn't even consider where he might travel to until late in the week when he discusses potential colleges with his high school coaches. He said he might even visit a college this week but isn't sure where.

“I really don't know,” Hand said. “A lot of people think I’m just playing around but I just don't know.”

Understandably, Hand is in no hurry to focus on his recruiting. He's just a junior and has dozens of scholarship offers to consider.

“I'm going to worry about all of that when I'm a senior when I'm about to go where I'm going to go,” Hand said. “Until then, anything can happen.”

Hand was once mostly unknown. No longer. Now, recruiters, fans and, especially, opposing high school coaches are aware of his talent. That means he rarely sees a play come his way.

“It was to the point I wasn't even tired,” Hand said of Friday night's game.
