Three-star defensive back Mike Dorcely (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) was hopeful to enjoy full health for his senior year. Unfortunately the injury bug has bitten the 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior again.
"I tore my ACL a couple of weeks back in the Oak Ridge game," Dorcely said. "I was jumping in the air to make a play on the ball and landed wrong.
"It stinks. It's pretty frustrating to be honest."
It's Dorcely's second ACL tear in as many seasons and the cornerback said the recent injury has forced several programs to back off.
"Right now the only program that's willing to honor my scholarship offer is South Alabama," Dorcely said. "So I might check them out or I'm going to walk on to another program.
"Really it depends on the recovery and how well the knee heals up. Purdue is one of the programs that's stayed in touch but they are in a wait and see mode as well."
Dorcely says he's more than willing to give football another try.
"I think I'm going to be back on the field," Dorcely added. "Just need to get healthy first but I'll try it again."
