When Conner, an ESPN 150 senior safety, steps off the field, Lindsay is the man to take the star player's place. That happened often this season when Conner was slowed by a sore ankle. Lindsay was ready for the spotlight.
"Sometimes you get a little pressure on you if you miss a tackle or miss an assignment," the junior said. "Other than that it's fun because when you're playing with [Antonio], you get scouts looking at Tony and then they're looking at you at the same time. It's fun."
Conner is being recruited by several top colleges. He has named his five finalists: Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia and LSU.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Lindsay should take on a bigger role for Batesville (Miss.) South Panola when Conner moves onto college football. Lindsay should be well prepared. He's been awarded several local honors for his play, which include over 60 tackles, 22 pass deflections and an interception returned 71 yards for a touchdown.
